Mineral Salts

Not all sources of sodium and salt are the same. As far as the body is concerned, there is little similarity between the chemically-cleansed sodium chloride table salt you buy in the supermarket and mineral rich organic sea salt. One can kill you; the other heals you. In fact, it's essential for life.

The body needs sodium to function. It is the main component of the body's extra-cellular fluids, and it helps carry nutrients into the cells. Sodium also helps regulate other body functions, such as blood pressure and fluid volume, and works on the lining of blood vessels to keep the pressure balance normal. Standard table salt is highly refined, chemically cleansed, and unfriendly to the human body. Unrefined sea salt, on the other hand, is a naturally occurring complex of sodium chloride, which includes major minerals such as calcium and magnesium and a complete complement of essential trace minerals. This is the form of salt the body is designed to utilize.

Linus Pauling, Ph.D., two time Nobel Prize Winner, once said: “You can trace every sickness, every disease, and every ailment to a mineral deficiency.” Our bodies can not make minerals therefore it’s important to get our mineral needs met in some other way. We need to be taking minerals in a form that our body can use or assimilate.

The known benefits
of sea salt:

A study on the mental changes caused by sea salt bath therapy showed positive psychological effects such as peace of mind, vibrant life, increased energy level, stability and self control, regain of self confidence, better introspection, and improvement of response behavior against stress. It was also noted improvement in the quality of sleep. The sea salt bath helps the body to get rid of toxins and by- products of metabolism via the lymph system, which is valuable in the elimination of trapped fluids around the thighs, knees and ankles.

Beneficial Minerals in Mineral Salts:

Calcium - One of minerals found in sea salts which help keeps our bones and teeth strong, calcium helps make stronger, reinforce, fortify, brace,  build up, support, and strengthen our body cell membranes. Calcium also helps in the purification, sanitization, decontamination, distillation, refinement and cleansing of pores.

Sodium - Sea salt sodium contains ions, which play a role in removal of dead skin cells; as your skin ages it is the sodium that is responsible for repairing the skin. Sodium is also a powerful detoxifying agent, helping cells retain nourishment and expel waste.

Potassium - Potassium is necessary for the body because it helps improve oxidation in our body system. It also helps regulates electric functioning of the muscles and nervous system. Potassium also regulates the nervous system.

Chlorine - Chlorine helps to neutralize the effect of alkalinity and acidity effect in the body. Chlorine also helps in the metabolism of the skin;

Bromide - Bromide soothes skin, relaxes body muscles, and calms nerves.

Magnesium - Magnesium is useful in cell metabolism; magnesium is used for treatment of psoriasis.

Iodine - Important for the correct functioning of the thyroid gland, iodine aids in the body's metabolic exchanges.

Sulfur - A natural disinfectant (constituent of certain vitamins). Known as a powerful detoxifying agent, as it works closely with the liver to rid the body of toxins.

Zinc - When applied topically, it is known to protect the skin against sunburn and windburn.  Internally, it is akey factor in enzymatic regulation of cell proliferation and is known to boost the immune system.
